You go out to eat.  You value sustainability.  This Earth Day, you can put your values where your mouth is by dining at a Sustainable Pittsburgh Restaurant.

Sustainable Pittsburgh Restaurants help build vibrant communities and support environmental practices in their everyday actions.  Whether by donating food, sourcing local products, recycling or reducing their waste, these restaurants are making strides in terms of sustainability performance.

This Earth Day, join us in honoring the commitments of Sustainable Pittsburgh Restaurants and give our planet a hug with local, organic, or sustainably-sourced Earth Day specials throughout the week. Offerings may be found from April 17th – April 22nd and will vary by location, but any way you slice it, they’re guaranteed to be delicious.  Participating restaurants and their menus can be found at Pittsburgh Earth Day’s “Earth to Table” page, so keep your eyes out for updates and plenty of yummy fare!

How does a Sustainable Pittsburgh Restaurant earn designation? An establishment completes an online self-assessment of current business practices that measures performance across six areas of sustainability: Energy, Water, Waste, People, Sourcing, and Nutrition.  Restaurants are recognized with one of five levels of designation, so look for these “Plates” at your favorite restaurants throughout the Pittsburgh region and get a bite of sustainability with your meal:

Sustainable Pittsburgh Restaurant is a program of Sustainable Pittsburgh, a nonprofit that works to accelerate the policy and practice of sustainability in southwestern Pennsylvania.
