Senior Director of Policy and Strategic Initiatives
The successful Senior Director of Policy and Strategic Initiatives works closely with the Executive Director to develop and execute strategy for key initiatives across internal departments in accordance with Sustainable Pittsburgh’s mission. You will work closely with the Director of Programs, Director of Communications and other staff to meet these goals, and you will be primarily responsible for the successful integration of key energy and other sustainability policy information into our programs, educational events, resources, and activities. You will also be responsible for keeping Sustainable Pittsburgh leadership and all relevant staff appropriately informed about and engaged in key policy developments, and lead strategic internal policy conversations. The Senior Director of Policy and Strategic Initiatives is excellent at both project management and detailed problem solving and will be successful if they are an able leader and manager, capable of working with staff to strategically and simultaneously execute key initiatives. Carnegie Science Center
Public & Community Programs Coordinator
The Public & Community Programs Coordinator supports the Public & Community Programs Manager to coordinate museum programming and internal learning at Carnegie Science Center (CSC). They are responsible for assisting in the research, development, and implementation of departmental programming that is experienced virtually, onsite, within the Greater Pittsburgh community, or at-home. They support CSC University and promote other learning opportunities for the internal community. While supporting the Team & Program Development Manager, they will assist in establishing and coordinating external community relationships to expand CSC’s reach and audience diversity. Clean Air Engineering
Field Scientist
The primary role of a field scientist is to participate in air emissions test programs. These programs are conducted at heavy industrial sites such as power plants, refineries, or paper mills. The field scientist is responsible for learning EPA test methodologies and conducting these field tests. When not in the field the Field Scientist is responsible for equipment maintenance and calibrations, sample analysis, and data entry. Personal safety, data quality, and ethical testing are of the highest priority. More info here.

Clean Water Action is hiring community organizers to call our existing members and develop long-term sustaining donors for our environmental work. Phone canvass positions are part-time, providing flexible scheduling for students, parents, and those with day jobs. Operations and Programs Manager
Reporting to, and working with, the Director of Operations and Visitor Engagement, the Operations and Programs Manager plays a vital role in ensuring that the Operations and Visitor Engagement (OVE) department operates efficiently while delivering the highest quality experience for park guests. This position assists in leading a diverse team of full-time, part-time, and seasonal staff, while also ensuring that various park spaces and facilities are well organized, maintained, and activated. Main areas of operational responsibility include Schenley Plaza, the Schenley Park Visitor Center, Mellon Square, and the Frick Environmental Center. The National Aviary’s Program Specialist is part of a dynamic and energetic Education DEpartment performing all job assignments with a positive attitude that reflects the NAtional Aviary’s mission to inspire a respect for nature through an appreciation of birds. The Program Specialist develops formal, informal, and interpretive education programs and materials, coordinates and facilitates education programs and interpretation, actively participates in bird handling, supports the Volunteer Coordinator in mentoring National Aviary volunteers on interpretation and assists the sales coordinator with administrative responsibilities and strategic initiatives. Youth Climate Advocacy Committee Leader
Under the direction of the YCAC Coordinator, help shape and guide Phipps’ Youth Climate Advocacy Committee by leading activities and discussions, guiding project working groups, and mentoring youth in the committee. The YCAC Leader will lead and assist with leading meetings, activities and workshops on climate action, environmental topics, leadership, advocacy, environmental justice, and science communication. They will also guide collaboration and teamwork within the committee by designing and facilitating team building opportunities and activities that motivate and inspire committee members. In addition, they will organize group discussions around environmental topics such as climate justice, sustainability, water quality, food systems, policy, natural resources, ecology, and green technology. The YCAC also provides kind and appropriate peer-mentoring for other youth committee members both individually and in groups. More info here.
