Volpatt Construction, a general contractor and construction management firm serving the Western PA Tri-State area, released the company’s year-end waste diversion data.

In 2024, with the help of local partners, Volpatt Construction diverted more than 1,620 tons of waste from landfills. The data is being released to help support the company’s focus on greener building practices. According to Qflow, a digital platform in construction sustainability, diverting 1,620 tons of waste from landfills is equivalent to the CO2 emissions absorbed by 32,000 trees in a year. This significant achievement demonstrates the environmental impact of proactive waste management strategies within the construction industry.

“It is up to contractors, architects, and owners to think about diversion from the landfill early in the construction planning process,” said Michael Volpatt, Vice President of Marketing and Innovation for Volpatt Construction. “Creativity and commitment are key to building strategies focused on reducing the amount of waste generated prior to the shovel even hitting the ground as well as during the demolition and construction phases.”
