One of my favorite fashion events of the year is back and bigger than ever! The ninth annual Ecolution Fashion Gala is coming your way on June 5 at the Carnegie Museum of Pittsburgh. What makes this event so unique is a runway fashion show that highlights reused, discarded and recycled materials designed exclusively for this one-night only fashion extravaganza.

Twenty designers will be showcasing their unbridled creativity as the models sashay down the runway. “Our collaboration with the Ecolution Green Fashion Gala event will bring attention to Pittsburgh,” said Pittsburgh Earth Day founder Ronda Zegarelli. “One of the most exciting highlights is a gracious donation from the Carnegie Museum via Volpatt Construction. Our new curator, Brian David, will repurpose the red velvet of the chairs from the Carnegie Museum and turn it into a couture red velvet gown.” It will aptly be titled: From Chairs to Couture” and you won’t want to miss its debut down the runway.

Being honored this year is Richard Parsakian, a long-time supporter of the fashion show, serving as its creative director for many years. Richard’s beloved vintage shop, Eons Fashion Antique, is a must-visit, where friends and icons alike (like Billy Porter!) frequent when on the fashion hunt for vintage and rare couture pieces. His commitment to environmental justice continues to inspire so many.

The event will kick off at 6 p.m. where VIPs can enjoy a plant-forward menu in the Hall of Architecture along with two complimentary drink tickets. At 7 p.m. the doors will open for everyone to join the celebration with the official fashion show starting at 8 p.m. Enjoy dance performances by PearlAnn Porter, music by DJ Soy Sso, visual artistry, and more.

This is an event you have to see to believe as every year the talented artists and designers who showcase their work push themselves further to create not just sustainable pieces…but beautiful works of wearable art.
