Electricity to Fuel a New Era of Mobility at Pittsburgh International Auto Show

Duquesne Light Company’s “Electric Avenue” will give visitors a unique, immersive experience, including ride-alongs in the new all-electric Ford Mustang Mach-E and Ford F-150 Lightning

Visitors at the 2022 Pittsburgh International Auto Show can learn all about electric vehicles (EVs) at the event’s new “Electric Avenue” display. Sponsored by Duquesne Light Company (DLC), the display will offer extensive education on EVs, including how drivers can charge them at home and where they can fuel up on the road. Attendees can also participate in an indoor ride-along in two cutting-edge, all-electric vehicles —the 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E and 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning —which are being provided courtesy of Neighborhood Ford Store’s regional dealers.

“We couldn’t be prouder to team up with the Greater Pittsburgh Automobile Dealers Association on bringing ‘Electric Avenue’ to this year’s Auto Show. This display will give show-goers a chance to experience the unmatched performance, convenience and cost-effectiveness of EVs,” said Sarah Olexsak, senior manager of transportation electrification at DLC. “In continued partnership with local dealerships, our goal is to give people a strong understanding of the benefits of electric mobility and the growing options that are available to them, including light-duty trucks.”

Over the past several years, DLC has played a lead role in supporting the transition to electric mobility in the Pittsburgh region, including:

• Partnering with various organizations to install more than 100 charging station ports across Allegheny and Beaver counties, with more being added every year.
• Joining other electric utilities to form the National Electric Highway Coalition, which aims to increase the number of fast-charging stations along major U.S. travel corridors to make long-distance travel even easier for EV drivers.
• Working with Port Authority of Allegheny Country to install charging for the first eight all-electric transit buses in the Pittsburgh area.
