On any given weekend throughout the year, you can find CGI partners in Pittsburgh making chili and curry to raise funds for veterans, hosting community blood drives, supporting the Best of the Batch Foundation’s toy drive, creating and distributing cards of gratitude for veterans; or assembling science and craft kits for children. For CGI, it's not just about technology; it's about engaging as passionate citizens to enhance the communities where they live and work.
“Giving back to the communities in which our CGI Partners live, and work reflects our deep commitment to being more than just a business; we strive to be a positive force in Pittsburgh and beyond,” said Deb Mohapatra, Senior Vice President and Business Unit leader.
To support their robust community engagement work, CGI rolled out a global community collaboration tool called CGI for Good. This internal portal provides a wide range of local in-person volunteer opportunities to empower CGI partners to embody the CGI dream of building a more inclusive and sustainable world. This tool has been a game-changer for local CGI consultant Beth Bujak, who leads Pittsburgh's local ESG efforts.
“Volunteering locally allows me to contribute to our collective well-being both in the office and throughout our community, fostering a deep sense of shared purpose both personally and professionally. I am proud that CGI has entrusted me to lead these important volunteer initiatives,” said Bujak.
In 2024, CGI’s Pittsburgh metro has focused on community partnerships that ignite an interest in technology careers among school-aged children and promote health and wellness. Recent engagements with the American Red Cross, Special Olympics, United Way, Pittsburgh Community Science Workshop, Operation Gratitude, and the Boys and Girls Club of Western Pennsylvania reflect this steadfast commitment to corporate social responsibility. In addition, CGI has proudly partnered with the American Heart Association for nearly two decades.
“Our mission of promoting longer, healthier lives is powered by the unwavering support of local partners like CGI. For over 15 years, CGI has been a steadfast supporter, making significant contributions to our fight against heart disease,” said Matthew Sousa, Executive Director, American Heart Association Pittsburgh. “They’ve had a presence at our annual Heart Ball, they host our annual Field Day and provide opportunities for their team to learn the lifesaving skill of CPR.”
The importance of giving back is driven by the CGI dream, which defines the essence of who CGI is as a company: to foster an environment where we enjoy working together and, as owners, contribute to building a company we can be proud of. This commitment is deeply embedded in CGI's culture in Pittsburgh and beyond, guiding consultants in their roles as trusted advisors to clients.
Environmental responsibility is integrated into how CGI conducts business, manages its operations, and supports its clients and ecosystems in communities worldwide. Socially, the company actively supports a collaborative, inclusive culture committed to the growth of its consultants by investing in their personal and professional development and advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I).
“Our work on behalf of our valued clients and local community is changing lives,” added Bujak. “And that gets me excited to come to work each day, knowing the difference we’re making in Pittsburgh and beyond.”
