This fall, the Pittsburgh Robotics Network invites you to experience the future of robotics and artificial intelligence at Robotics & AI Discovery Day 2025.

Pittsburgh has become a national leader in robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) by combining its industrial past with cutting-edge innovation. The city has over 100 robotics and advanced tech companies, many clustered along the “AI Avenue” corridor in East Liberty. 

In 2023, Pittsburgh recorded its second-highest year ever for tech investment, according to Ernst & Young and Innovation Works, with tech job growth outpacing national averages.These projections along with top universities drive world-class research and attract tech talent from around the globe.

At the heart of modern innovation is the principle of ethical technology, which focuses on three critical pillars: Environmental, Social, and Governance responsibilities. Sustainable tech supports the environmental dimension by addressing climate impact, energy efficiency, biodiversity preservation, water use, and circularity, these areas that robotics and AI are uniquely equipped to improve.

AI’s expanding energy footprint in data centers is becoming a critical sustainability concern as the demand for high-performance computing continues to surge. Large-scale AI models, particularly those powering generative AI and machine learning, require massive computational resources, often leading to increased electricity consumption and heat output. 

This has raised alarms about carbon emissions, water use for cooling systems, and overall environmental impact. In response, companies and policymakers are focusing on sustainable design practices such as using renewable energy sources, implementing advanced cooling technologies, and repurposing waste heat. The future of AI infrastructure not only has to meet technological demands, but also align with climate goals, energy efficiency standards, and long-term environmental stewardship.

This one-day event will gather more than 10,000 students, business professionals, community members, and tech enthusiasts at the David L.Lawrence Convention Center to explore the region’s thriving robotics ecosystem.
