There was much to see both on and off stage at the 2023 Ecolution Fashion Gala, sponsored by Duquesne Light Company, Wesco, Pitt Ohio, UPMC Health Plan, and more. This year, the annual affair was once again held at the breathtaking Carnegie Museum of Pittsburgh. Guests gathered to bask in the exhibition of couture fashion made of recycled materials, themed “The Unseen World.”

The Ecolution Fashion Gala - beloved throughout the city as the premier sustainable fashion event - has created several iconic looks in support of our mission to live Earth Day Every Day and reduce, reuse, and recycle - especially in the fashion industry.

The 2023 Ecolution Fashion Gala took place on Wednesday, June 7 in Pittsburgh. The 9th annual Gala was curated by Richard Parsakian, styled by Izzazu Salon, Spa & Blowout Bar, and produced by The Green Voice Collective.

What was the Ecolution Fashion Gala 2023 theme?

The theme of the Ecolution Fashion Gala was "The Unseen World," which challenged designers and artists to create couture fashion through the use of sustainable, recyclable, and organic materials. The evening is an opportunity to celebrate Pittsburgh's sustainably fashion-forward designers and network with some of the biggest names in the Steel City.

Who was featured at the Ecolution Fashion Gala?

The designers of this year's breathtaking runway show included Christine Bethea, Terry Boyd, Claudia Brownlee, Brian David, Virginia Nicoll-Hernandez, James Houk, Glendon Hyde, Darrell Kinsel, Michael Nolan Kouri, Mila Muchnok, Mossy Lane, Randal Miller, Bradford Mumpower, Lana Neumeyer, Suz Pisano, Pearlann Porter, Charlotte Reichman, Rell Rushin, and Brandy Wank.

Models from Docherty Model and Talent Agency graced the runway in the chic designs. Music was provided by DJ Soy Sos and a special dance performance was choreographed by American icon, Kyle Abraham, and performed by Donovan Reed. There were also special performances by Kierra Drashell, The First Lady of Pittsburgh Drag, and artist Claire Hardy.

Leah Lizarondo, Founder of Food Rescue Hero®, was awarded the annual Model Citizen award.

What was the dress code?

The dress code for the annual Ecolution Fashion Gala is 'Fashion Chic', and guests are encouraged to dress to impress in their sustainable couture best. This gathering showcases Pittsburgh's commitment to sustainable fashion in elegance and style.

What happens at the Ecolution Fashion Gala?

Each year, the Ecolution Fashion Gala brings together Pittsburgh's best designers to create a fashion show made entirely of recycled and reused materials. The 2023 Gala also featured Pittsburgh's favorite DJ, SoySos, as well as a featured choreographer, a live performance, and a featured artist. This year's event was emceed by Brian Siewiorek.

VIP Attendees also experienced a pre-event experience in the Carnegie Museum Hall of Architecture, filled with plant-based appetizers, herbaceous cocktails made with Finlandia Vodka, and opportunities to get a sneak peek at the live artist performance.
